Wellness through Education
The Community Health Education Center at MedStar Franklin Square is committed to helping patients make informed decisions to better manage their healthcare needs. The following classes and services are designed to provide information to help enhance your health and overall well-being:

OBTLC Birth and Family Education
Our OBTLC (Obstetrics with Tender Loving Care) birth and family education classes provide the information needed to create your personal birthing plan. Classes are taught by certified childbirth educators and are available at various times and locations to accommodate a busy schedule. Community Wellness Programs
The Community Health Education Center sponsors and supports community programs to promote health and wellness.
A team of health professionals, including registered nurses, certified diabetes educators, certified childbirth educators, and nutritionists are available to provide health information and screenings at community centers, health fairs, meetings, schools, senior centers and workplaces.
Programs can be customized to accommodate the ages and health interests of your group. Please allow three to four weeks notice to schedule our participation at your event.

Stop Smoking Today
This program combines enhanced breathing, deep relaxation with guided imagery and behavioral modification. Offers small group size, individual importance of smoking cessation, training enhanced breathing, group discussion, smoking aversion techniques, and skill development for reducing cravings and stress. The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene offers a toll-free Quitline that provides free, telephone-based counseling sessions for any Maryland resident who wants to quit smoking. The Quitline, 1-800-QUITNOW (1-800-784-8669), is available daily from 8 a.m. to midnight. Learn more about our Stop Smoking Today program and register for Stop Smoking Today.

Back-to-School - Rally for Health
Each year MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center hosts the Back-to-School Rally for Health for kids and parents in the community. This health and safety fair provides information/activities including, but not limited to:
